Genetic factors are increasingly influencing the efficacy and tolerability of medications—and bringing personalized medicine to the forefront of precision medicine. For over ten years, the PGXperts system has been developed in Fürth to make pharmacogenetic insights directly actionable and to support physicians in prescribing personalized medications.
The presentation highlights the path to certification as a Class IIb medical device—a crucial but regulatory-intensive step for clinical integration. Drawing on the experiences of PGXperts GmbH, key challenges, hurdles, and market impacts will be highlighted.
Herna Muñoz-Galeano is the founder and managing director of HMG Systems Engineering GmbH and PGXperts GmbH, as well as a graduate engineer (electronics) and computer scientist. She has more than 25 years of international experience as an entrepreneur and expert in the development of complex IT systems in the fields of digital health, process automation, and telecommunications.
